Our Nan’s Jam Drop with Davidson Plum Cookies are a nostalgic treat with a native twist. This cookie is dedicated to my grandmother, whom I spent countless hours baking with as a child and with whom I discovered my love of cooking. Nan’s Jam Drop was a family favourite, and I am humbled to bake this cookie with an allergy-friendly twist. Nan was a one-stop shop; she persevered with her own fruits for homemade pies and used them in her famous jams. I think I have inherited her 'let's try this and see if it works' attitude, as she would always mix things up and try new things like her delicious raspberry and plum jam.

These yummy shortbread cookies with rich sticky jam bursting through will conjure up childhood memories for many, and I hope to make some new memories for you by sharing them with your mob. The Davison Plum in the jam gives the family fave the cultural infusion it deserves. Davison Plum was a dietary staple of Aboriginal people for thousands of years, growing in the rainforests of Northern NSW (Bundjalung Country) and Queensland. Our people ate the fruit raw and used the tree's bark for harpoons for water hunting. Davidson Plum has the highest amount of anthocyanins, which are higher antioxidants than blueberries. The Davidson Plum is an excellent source of potassium, Vitamin E, lutein, zinc, folate, calcium and magnesium.
